Harnessing electron spins with carbon materials for quantum information applications

چکیده
Electron spins in carbon materials, including paramagnetic fullerenes, diamond with NV- centers, and graphene nanoribbons, have long coherence time that is suitable for quantum information applications. In this perspective, we discuss how to harness electron materials. The development of the methods introduce spin combined manipulation readout techniques states, provide a cascade applications ranging from sensing computing.

متن کاملTowards Quantum Communication with Electron Spins
We review our recent work towards quantum communication in a solid-state environment with qubits carried by electron spins. We propose three schemes to produce spin-entangled electrons, where the required separation of the partner electrons is achieved via Coulomb interaction. The non-product spinstates originate either from the Cooper pairs found in a superconductor, or in the ground state of ...
متن کاملQuantum Computing with Electron Spins in Quantum Dots
We present a set of concrete and realistic ideas for the implementation of a small-scale quantum computer using electron spins in lateral GaAs/AlGaAs quantum dots. Initialization is based on leads in the quantum Hall regime with tunable spin-polarization. Read-out hinges on spin-to-charge conversion via spin-selective tunneling to or from the leads, followed by measurement of the number of elec...
متن کاملSpins in few-electron quantum dots
The canonical example of a quantum-mechanical two-level system is spin. The simplest picture of spin is a magnetic moment pointing up or down. The full quantum properties of spin become apparent in phenomena such as superpositions of spin states, entanglement among spins, and quantum measurements. Many of these phenomena have been observed in experiments performed on ensembles of particles with...
متن کاملHarnessing Quantum Interference in Molecular Dielectric Materials.
We investigate the relationship between dielectric response and charge transport in molecule-based materials operating in the quantum coherent regime. We find that quantum interference affects these observables differently, for instance, allowing current passing through certain materials to be reduced by orders of magnitude without affecting dielectric behavior (or band gap). As an example, we ...
